The housing-crisis in Egypt has taken a turn for the worse in recent years, with Nazim’s recent statement on the new government strategy offering little hope so far. Ashoka Arab World hopes to be able to begin addressing housing needs through our Housing For All initiative – including for short-term impact the provision of low-cost construction materials for home improvement, and for long-term effect providing advocacy training to inhabitants of ashwaiyat. Note that Ashoka does not work with governments in general – only for this initiative will we engage local municipalities.
