For clarification too, the salaries the workers receive is per month, correct? So an employee who has worked at the factory for almost 30 years is making 310LE per month, which roughly equates to US $ 54 per month. Shameful.

Whoops. premature posting disorder. And burying-the-lede disorder. The headline should be: "Eight Hundred Miners Threaten to Stage Sit-in In Front of President's House."

Yes, this from yesterday. As I understand it, they're accusing the governorate of withholding their incentive pay to finance the Projects Fund, which they described as "a loser."

They're also angry with the firing of Yehia Muhammad Abdulsalam and Muhammad Khaled Atteya, operations managers for the quarries after they were 72 hours late delivering LE3,000 to the Treasury.

If no one intervenes to solve the problem in 10 days, the strikers said, they'll stage a sit-in in front of the president's house.

Sorry I missed it, Hoss., but thanks for the report.

More labor unrest:
Did you see the news about the 800 miners from the quarries of Zaqaziq who started a sit-in strike to protest the withholding of their incentive pay? They're accusing the governorate (Shar2ayya),
