Blogger exposes Port Said Prison abuse
Misr el-Horra blog managed to get exclusive pictures of the abuse against inmates at the Port Said General Prison. The correction officers assaulted prisoners with wooden sticks, iron bars and pepper-sprayed their faces because they “refused to obey an officer’s order.”
The following pix are of inmate El-Tabei’ Ibrahim Muhammad. The blogger managed to bribe their way into the Prosecution building office at Port Said, and photographed the prisoner inside the bathroom.
The latest scandal comes shortly after the prosecutor’s office started an investigation into videos of police brutality leaked and circulated by the bloggers.
Lawyers protest police harassment
Tens of lawyers demonstrated yesterday in front of the Lawyers’ Syndicate in Ramses St., protesting physical and verbal harassment they face from police officers and government prosecutors. The lawyers are threatening to take Mubarak’s regime officials to international courts and launching a national strike.
