Updates on the Ghazl Shebeen strike
A message from a friend, with updates on the Ghazl Shebeen el-Kom strike:
There’s been demonstrations again this morning in the factory following an interview broadcast last evening (09.03) on the Mehwar’s ’90 daqiqa’ program. The program involved a discussion between the head of the company’s union committee (Ibrahim Yunes) and ‘Aly al-Dessouqy, the company’s head of legal affairs department. Al-dessouqy accused Yunes and the workers of being baltagyia which sparked workers’ anger this morning. A cardboard made coffin was carried around the factory to symbolize the demise of the management and of Egyptian employees like al-Dessouqy who don’t stand by the workers.
Workers have also been calling on the Manpower Minister to visit the factory asap: ” ‘Ayzin ‘Aisha”.
The textile branch union issued this morning a statement condemning al-Dessouqy’s verbal attacks against workers.
Galloway denounces me
LOL!
Galloway, the Savior of Gaza, is denouncing me in Scottish media:
The Guardian even unearthed a Trotskyist in Egypt – the only one, surely – to pour ordure on me. I bet it wouldn’t have happened to Bono.
