The Helwan Steel Mills-based Workers Consciousness Committee issued a statement denouncing the corruption of the state-backed General Federation of Trade Unions, demanding the improvement of work conditions in the mills, and asserting that the “Steel Mills workers are able to take their rights, just like other workers did starting from the Mahalla December 2006 strike to the Real Estate Tax Collectors’ strike.”
