It’s amazing how imperial history repeats itself:

“In 1932, in a series of Guernica-like atrocities, the British used poison gas in Waziristan. The disarmament convention of the same year sought a ban against the aerial bombardment of civilians, but Lloyd George, who had been British prime minister during World War I, gloated: “We insisted on reserving the right to bomb niggers” (Fitzgerald and Gould, p. 65). His view prevailed.”

Nile Cotton Ginning Workers on STRIKE!

The Nile Cotton Ginning workers struck today in the company’s branches in Nile Delta towns of Mahalla, Zefta, Kafr el-Zayat, while their Upper Egyptian colleagues in Minya took to the streets and clashed with the police troops, after the management failed to meet its promises of paying the workers their late social bonuses.
