A video clip of the Dekerness farmers who are on a continuous sit-in on their fields, from which the court ordered their eviction in favor of the descendants of the area’s former feudal lords. The peasants have been subject to a police terror campaign in 2005-6, to drive them off their lands.
Bloggers detained
I’m receiving news that bloggers Muhammad Adel and Mustafa Khalil have been detained by the police, while covering the sit-in today in front of the Shobra Prosecution office, where our friend Abdel Moneim Mahmoud is being interrogated together with a group of MB students.
UPDATE: The two were held in police custody for half an hour before their release. Moneim’s interrogation is still ongoing.
Bani Sweif rescue medics stage sit-in
Al-Masry Al-Youm reports:
Around 100 rescue medics staged a sit-in yesterday in the Upper Egyptian town of Bani Sweif, inside the Medical Rescue Center in Ghamrawy neighborhood, demanding their bonuses, unpaid for 10 months.
The medics also demanded the govt fulfill its promises to provide the badly-needed maintanence for their ambulances.
