Seven hundred workers from the railways technical workshops demonstrated yesterday, blocking the Torbini 917 train, at Abu Wafia region, on its way to Alexandria. The workers demanded the presence of Transportation Minister Muhammad Mansour to listen personally to their complaints about work conditions.
The minister did not show up, but moved quickly to contain the workers’ anger by ordering the payment of 25% salary bonus as promised earlier.
Mubarak’s crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood continues. Five businessmen belonging to the group were detained by State Security, and had their businesses raided in Cairo.
Meanwhile, the State Security Prosecutor renewed today the detention of Khairat el-Shatter, the group’s third-in-command, together with 15 other senior members for another 15 days…

أمن الدولة يغلق 4 من دور النشر الإسلامية وشركات خاصة للإخوان ويعتقل 24من موظفيها

في خطوة وصفتها جماعة الإخوان المسلمون أنها تستهدف ضرب مؤسساتها الإعلامية و دور النشر المقربة منها شنَّت مباحث أمن الدولة فجر اليوم الأحد 24/12/2006 حملةً شرسةً على عدد من دور النشر والمكتبات الإسلامية، وقامت بتشميع أبوابها؛ حيث أغلقت مكاتب دار التوزيع والنشر الإسلامية، ودار البشائر بالهرم، ومكتبة الإعلام بمدينة نصر، ودار الطباعة للنشر والتوزيع بالسيدة زينب ، واعتقلوا أكثر من 24 من أصحابها والعاملين بها …
كما تم تشميع المخزن التابع لدار التوزيع والنشر بمدينة قليوب، وإغلاق المطبعة التابعة لدار الطباعة للنشر والتوزيع بمدينة العاشر من رمضان، وإغلاق مكاتبها بمدينة نصر.
وقامت قوات الأمن باعتقال أربعة من الإخوان وهم: حسن مالك، وأحمد أشرف، وأكثم الطويل، والمهندس أحمد شوشة، و20 عاملاً كانوا في مبيت بشقتين يملكهما الحاج حسن مالك، ومصادرة بعض المتعلِّقات ومبالغ مالية تقدر بـ165 ألف جنيه!!
يذكر أن حسن مالك كان من المقرر أن يسافر لأداء فريضة الحج أمس السبت إلا أن مباحث أمن الدولة منعته من السفر وتم اعتقاله في نفس الليلة وإغلاق شركاته الخاصة.
وفي حملة أخرى أغلقت قوات الأمن عددًا من الشركات الخاصة المملوكة لأفراد من الإخوان المسلمين، ومن بينها شركة “حياة” للأدوية التي تم اعتقال مديرها ومالكها الدكتور محمد حافظ.
الجدير بالذكر أن هذه الحملة الجديدة تأتي في ظل هجمة أمنية وإعلامية كبيرة ضد الإخوان المسلمين عقب العرض شبه العسكري الذي نظَّمة طلاب جامعة الأزهر مؤخرًا ، وأعقبتها حملة اعتقالات طالت عددًا من قيادات الجماعة، على رأسهم المهندس محمد خيرت الشاطر النائب الثاني للمرشد العام، وعشرات من طلاب الإخوان بجامعة الأزهر
The Tora Cement workers strike enters its fifth day, as negotiations continue with union leaders on their hospital beds. Muhammad Abdel Monsef, the union leader at the factory, together with his deputy Muhammad Ramzi, and two other union officials, Shaaban Ezzat Abdel Qader and Karam el-Sayyed Allam–all have been on a hunger strike since 1,000 workers laid down their tools and stopped production at the Tora Cement factory, demanding their 4.75 months bonus from their Italian management. The recent offer from the management to pay 3.5 months was turned down by union leader Abdel Monsef as he was transferred to Salam Hospital. Abdel Monsef denied, in an interview to Al-Masry Al-Youm, the false statements by the Italian management which claimed workers receive monthly salaries of LE4,500 on average. Abdel Monsef said his fellow workers were receiving between LE1,000 and LE1,500 a month.
