Nadia and Waleed to be released
The Bab el-Khalq Prosector has ordered the release of Nadia Mabrouk and Waleed Salah, Kefaya activists and journalists with the weekly Al-Anwar, after police kidnapped them yesterday and charged them with distributing anti-regime leaflets and disturbing public order. They are being transferred now back to Qasr el-Nil Police Station. Their release may take place tonight, or tomorrow.
UPDATE: Nadia has been released, according to her lawyer. Waleed is expected to go home tonight too.
Giza garbage protest goes ahead without leader
The Daily Star Egypt ran a frontpage report today on the Sunday “Garbage March” in Giza, and the detention of its organizer Engineer Muhammad al-Ashqar of Kefaya.
