28/1/11 The Battle for the Parliament
After taking control of Tahrir around 6:35pm, on the Friday of Anger, 28 January, we tried to storm the parliament, but were fought back by the police using tear gas, live ammunition, birdshots and rubber bullets.
The car burning in the square was one of the police cars.

After converging on downtown Cairo on Friday of Anger from different areas, battling the police from street to street, we had reached Champollion Street, and later around 6:35 pm, Tahrir Square was finally under our control, with the Central Security Forces retreating to Qasr el-Eini Street to deploy around the parliament.
