FREE KHALED HAMZA

Posted on 05/03/200831/12/2020 By 3arabawy

Elijah blogs about Khaled, and so does Issandr.. I also received news from Moneim that Khaled is locked up together with 50 more detainees in a tight cell in Tora. I should receive more details soon.

Khaled and all detained his Brothers have my unconditional solidarity.

UPDATE: Moneim has more details about the dismal conditions of Khaled’s imprisonment.
Khalled is kept in a prison cell 20m x 4m.. bad ventilation, hardly any sunlight. He’s locked up with “criminals,” not political detainees, who openly abuse drugs. State Security refused his repeated requests to be moved to another cell that has political detainees. Fights break out in the cell all the time.
Khaled is suffering from heart and blood pressure problems, and his health is deteriorating. We hold Mubarak’s State Security Police responsible for Khaled’s safety inside.

Khaled Hamza’s detention extended; Mubarak’s crackdown on MBs continue

Posted on 04/03/200831/12/2020 By 3arabawy

Khaled Hamza’s detention has been extended by the State Security Prosecutor, as expected:

The New Cairo-based state security prosecution ordered on Monday, March, 3rd, 2008, the detention of Khaled Hamza and 12 other Muslim Brotherhood (MB) members prolonged 15 days pending investigations. They have been arrested ahead of the Municipal elections scheduled to be held next April, 8th, 2008.

My thoughts go out to him, his family, and all political detainees in Mubarak’s prisons.

And while Western officials keep praising Mubarak’s “democracy,” the security crackdowns on the Muslim Brothers activists continues in different provinces:

At dawn on Monday security forces arrested 65 members of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) in Sharqeya, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sohag, Gharbeia, Giza, Qena, and Menoufiya, said a Brotherhood press statement.
The police official, speaking on customary condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media, confirmed Monday’s arrests.

MB military tribunal verdict postponed

I’m receiving news from Muslim Brotherhood sources and journalists that the verdict that was to be issued today by Mubarak’s Kangaroo court has been postponed to 25 March.

My solidarity goes to the MB and all political detainees.
