11 days passed without ordering investigation into the torture of imprisoned blogger

Posted on 26/11/200726/12/2020 By 3arabawy

I received the following statement from imprisoned Alexandrian blogger Kareem Amer’s lawyers:

Eleven days passed since a communiqué was sent to the Prosecutor-General about the torturing of blogger Karim Amer in Borg Alarab prison without ordering an investigation, a matter that raises concerns and doubts about justice and leaves the door open for impunity from punishment in Egypt, the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information said today.
This press release came after the lawyers of the Arabic Network paid Karim a visit in Borg Alarab prison as they found out that there was no investigation started regarding their communique which was sent to the Prosecutor-General on November 14, they also noticed the healing of the torture related-injuries yet the broken teeth Karim lost demonstrates full-blown evidence of the torture he went through.
The Arabic Network’s lawyers examined by themselves the abrasions on Karim’s neck and his” broken teeth”, they also saw one of the police elements involved in torturing Karim; He was strolling down happily with a smirk on his face implying a message that” Torture is our trade, the prosecutor-general protects us and Karim will stay under our teeth.”

Stop crackdowns on MBs, say rights activists

Posted on 20/11/200730/12/2020 By 3arabawy

I received the following statement from HRINFO:

Egyptian human rights & law organizations said today that keeping silent about the continuous police campaign against hundreds of Egyptian citizens because of their being members of the Muslim Brotherhood, is becoming a collusion & participation in this systemic oppression, and therefore they must not keep silent.
Yesterday, security authorities have detained about 25 citizens from Sharqiya & Daqahliya cities in the delta region. They followed the usual routine of arresting MB members in the dark of the night, raiding into their houses & terrifying their family members who woke up on the noise of doors being broken & armed men threatening them.
The organizations signing this proclamation are denouncing the fact that news about random police campaigns & detentions of MB members from most of the governorates of Egypt are considered unworthy of publishing or even mentioning in most of Egyptian newspapers, with the exception of sparse brief news in some independent newspapers & some websites, as if it is becoming a trivial thing to arrest Egyptian citizens & oppressing them on the background of their political opinions as Islamist opposition.

2 pigs under investigation for ordering 2 teens raped in custody

From AP:

Two police officers are under investigation after two teenagers alleged that the officers ordered other prisoners to rape them at a police station, prosecution officials said Wednesday.
A lieutenant and first lieutenant at the Kafr el-Sheik station allegedly ordered older prisoners to rape the teenage boys, ages 16 and 17, after the two were arrested for drug possession last week and ordered detained for four days, the officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media about the case.
After their release, the teenagers’ families filed a complaint with the local prosecutor’s office, and a forensic examination taken after they left police custody showed they were recently sexually abused, the officials said.
The Egyptian government has not confirmed the investigation. But on Wednesday, the Interior Ministry released a statement saying the police director of the Kafr el-Sheik station, a police general and two of his senior assistants were removed from their posts and transferred to administrative jobs. The statement did not elaborate.
