At a time when their leaders are in languishing in prison following a military tribunal, their organizers are still targeted by the police, their student union elections candidates are violently assaulted by security thugs, when education fees are skyrocketing as the country embraces a global recession, the Muslim Brotherhood student activists are responding by a campaign, according to a statement I received, for:

morals, Islamic dress codes for boys and girls, and issues related to the youth like regulations for socializing between the two genders and the proper way to talk.

Muslim Brotherhood activist Youssef Talaat, turned himself in to State Security Police on 9 October, after they intimidated his family.

Talaat, a pharmacist who resides in the Beheira province, is part of the Gaza Solidarity Campaign and one of the media coordinators for the Cairo Anti-War Conference.

There is serious concern about his safety in police custody. For more details about his case, check out this posting by Tadamon…

MB boycott Cairo and Ain Shams SU elections

The Muslim Brothers are boycotting the student union elections in Cairo and Ain Shams Universities to protest security interference. Just like before, thugs were allowed into Ain Shams U campus to assault the student activists.

Correction: No clashes happened in Ain Shams on the same scale as 2006. The plainclothes thugs were indeed brought to campus, and there was a stand off. But no fighting happened as MBs decided to withdraw from the elections.
