The night the bloggers got released

Posted on 21/03/200726/12/2020 By 3arabawy

Here’s another short video clip, I took with my mobile phone camera, of the night bloggers Muhammad el-Sharqawi and Kareem el-Sha’er were released from detention, 20 July 2006. The two activists, still in the white prison uniforms, were taken by their friends to a Qahwa in downtown Cairo to celebrate.

Here’s a video clip, shot by blogger Muhammad Adel, of a group of Kefaya demonstrators last Thursday marching through downtown, chanting against the regime, shortly before their arrest.

Police cracked down on the demo that day, dispersing crowds of demonstrators into small groups that reassembled in front of Tagammu Party HQ, Mugamma’ building in Omar Makram, and Talaat Harb Street.

State Security police report against Kefaya activists

Read the report filed by State Security Police Major Muhammad el-Anwar to the Prosecution against Kefaya activists, some of whom were among the detainees.

Apparently SS Major el-Anwar did not really do such a good job with his lies and fabrications, that even the government Prosecutor himself was “extremely frustrated and felt insulted he had to prosecute the Kefaya detainees over the weekend with such poorly made police reports,” according to lawyer Ahmad Seif. Below is a clip I took (sorry for the bad quality) of Seif talking sarcastically about the prosecutor’s frustration:
