Underground Metro passengers spontaneous protest

Posted on 26/06/200726/12/2020 By 3arabawy

Activist Akram el-Irani was on an adventure in the Underground Metro today. Around 5:30pm, and after a 15-minute stop at Saad Zaghloul Station, the metro started speeding, refusing to stop for successive nine stations, and only came to halt somewhere between Hammat el-Qobba and Saraya el-Qobba Stations, close to the Mukhabarat and the Presidential Palace.

The passengers jumped out of the carriages, and started what Akram described as a spontaneous demo, criticizing the railway authorities, the government, and the president himself.

Underground Metro drivers on strike

Posted on 06/06/200724/03/2015 By 3arabawy

I’m receiving news the Underground Metro drivers are on strike, and they have assembled at Orabi Station.

I’m trying to confirm the news now…

UPDATE: Three minutes after I posted the above, I was in my car ready to take off to Ramses Sq to check the strike, and that’s when a friend called in to say the strike was suspended and the trains are running again, so I walked back home to update the posting. I’m still trying to find out exactly what happened.. but the initial reports are saying that a driver was injured, and there was a delay in his transfer to the hospital. So the drivers went on strike, and stood on the rails, in front of the trains to block their movement. The strike lasted something between 15 to 30 mins, till the ambulance arrived. I’ll update the posting when I receive more information.
