Khaled Hamza released

Posted on 17/04/200812/01/2021 By 3arabawy

Khaled Hamza called me five mins ago. He’s free.

Khaled was released from State Security Police HQ in Lazoughly around 11pm. He estimates there are still at least 300 MB detainees left behind in Mubarak’s prisons, besides those who were sentenced by the kangaroo military tribunal.

“What I’ve seen inside prison and how the detainees are treated, makes me more certain we are up against a government of gangsters and monsters,” Khaled said, calling on leftist activists to unite with the MBs against the dictatorial regime.

SS Prosecutor orders Khaled Hamza’s release

Ibrahim el-Hodeiby called me to confirm that the State Security Prosecutor has ordered today the release of our friend Khaled Hamza, the editor of Ikhwan Web.

Of course this does not mean necessarily that Khaled will be released right away, as we all know and experienced Mubarak’s pigs respect for the “law.” Let’s hope the release doesn’t get stalled.

It’s again a sad day for Egypt, with those military tribunals verdict. Ibrahim would like to thank all leftist bloggers and activists who expressed their solidarity with the MB detainees, and he’s hoping this support will continue.

And remember, if we stay silent in front of this, we will end up in the same cage tomorrow. My solidarity goes to the MB and political detainees in Mubarak’s gulag.

25 senior MBs sentenced 3-10 years by kangaroo military tribunal

Depressing news. Read Issandr’s posting. Also, Amnesty denounced the trial in a statement.

Earlier, Ibrahim el-Hodeiby sent me an email:

Police officers and thugs harassed Muslim Brotherhood detainees’ families attempting to attend the final session of the military tribunal in the Haikstep military base today Tuesday.
Families went to Haikstep in the early morning to overcome expected police restrictions, but they went there to find thousands of police officers and soldiers, and hundreds of thugs. Police officers threatened that they will arrest family members if they do not leave, and threats were followed by brutal violence as several family members, including women and children were heavily beaten.
Of those beaten was Khadiga Malek, daughter of detainee Hassan Malek, while her uncle and two brothers Hamza and Ahmad were arrested.
Several journalists and reporters were also arrested and beaten up

My solidarity goes to the MB detainees. Down with Mubarak!
