The army shut down lights in Tahrir around 8:15pm, for roughly two hours, trying to discourage protesters from staying.

Protests in Alexandria

Thousands marched in Alexandria following the Friday prayers, descending on the Northern Command of the Egyptian Armed Forces, chanting against Field Marshal Muhammad Hussein Tantawi. The protesters asserted that the revolt will continue till a real regime change happens, corrupt Mubarak officials thrown in jail, and to see Mubarak himself standing trial for his crimes.

Cairo U students protest military police assaults
