Fatemah Farag, the editor in chief and my co-managing editor Lina El Wardani have also submitted their resignations from the Al-Masry Al-Youm English Edition today to protest the managerial interventions in the editorial work of the team.
This basically means the entire senior editorial team has resigned.
I prefer the Al-Jazeera English channel much more than its Arabic sister. The English channel, I feel, has more progressive editorial line on most issues, and you don’t find that occasional vulgar moralist statements both the Arabic reporters and the pundits they interview make.
On a separate note, both Al-Jazeeras hardly gave the Islam Online strike and the sacking of Qaradawi from el-Balagh any coverage.
