Cairo University students continue their protests against Hossam Kamel, the university president, and brother of Mubarak’s telecommunications minister Tarek Kamel. The students want complete purge of the administration from any corrupt regime figures, dissolution of the state-controlled student unions, lifting all restrictions on political activities, free education and affordable text books.

One quote I really like from the young female student who’s leading the chants above: “We will run the university. The university will not run us.”

A similar revolt is reported in virtually all state universities where classes were resumed.

During the university professors’ march from Manyal to Tahrir, on 8 February, protesters passed by the parliament, where they stood and chanted: Batel! Batel! (Illegitimate! Illegitimate!), referring to the vote rigging which took place in the elections in November 2010.

Protesters also denounced Fathi Surrur, NDP parliament speaker and one of Mubarak’s most notorious old guards.

In the pictures below, protesters assembled in front of a shop facing the parliament, denouncing Surrur’s banner put up by the shop owner. The owner freaking out, tore it down few minutes later.
