Solidarity from the Netherlands
I received the following solidarity statement from Dutch trade unionists…
Solidarity With Egyptian Workers
We support the Egyptian workers fighting for the rise of the national minimum wage. As governments across the world respond to the global recession by further cutting into the subsistence and rights of workers, we gladly express our solidarity with the workers of Egypt.
We hope that their struggle, which is also a struggle for workers everywhere, may continue and succeed. Therefore we lend our support, by action in solidarity, where it is within our grasp to do so, in our firm knowledge that ‘an injury to one is an injury to all’.
In Holland, we are encouraged to see workers from across Egypt take a stand against the exploitation of their labor and we are grateful to them for continuing to take a brave stand in the face of repression. We send our greetings and salute you and wish you all the best in your struggles.
In Solidarity,
