Tanta Flax strikers demonstrate in front of Ministerial Cabinet HQ
Around 100 Tanta Flax and Oils Company strikers continued their protests in Cairo today, moving from the Ministry of Manpower and Immigration in Nasr City, to the Ministerial Cabines HQ in Hussein Hegazi St.
The downtown Cairo sit-in started around 8:30am today. The police has been laying siege on the strikers, banning them from leaving the security cordon they were sandwiched in. “We are not even allowed to go the bathroom,” shouted one striker. “We have to piss in the street in front of everyone. We can’t leave the sit-in to drink water or get food.”
A bus carrying 50 more workers from the factory was prevented by the police from leaving Mit Hebeish to Cairo this morning, according to strike leader Hisham el-Okal.
As of time of writing (8:00pm), the sit-in continues. It’s unclear whether the strikers will spend their night today in downtown Cairo, or will leave to Tanta.

Nubariya Agricultural Engineering workers are demonstrating in front of the parliament (where the Nile Cotton Ginning Co workers were assaulted by the police) demanding their unpaid salaries.
