El-Adly Videogate: Imbaba abuse victim receives 3 months in prison!

I’ve just received news that Ihab Magdi Farouk has been sentenced today to three months in prison, on charges of “mobile phone theft.”

I was told by an EOHR lawyer who’s following the case that the Imbaba police agents are hysterically involved behind the scenes to try to reach a deal with Ihab, so as to drop the police brutality charges against the Imbaba Police Station agents, whose trial is coming up on 3 March.

The worrying developments, the lawyer I spoke to said, includes Ihab’s refusal to give the power of attorney to the EOHR lawyers, and instead using another lawyer his family brought him. “The lawyer is being pressured by one of the police corporals to drop the case,” he said. “There’s so much happening behind the scenes that we are not aware of.”

Mubarak’s Gestapo detained 81 Muslim Brothers activists in several provinces on Thursday. The Revolutionary Socialists, Egypt’s largest radical leftist organization, has denounced the crackdown and the unjust military tribunals the MB leaders are about to face.

Police ban engineers’ protest

I received a statement from the Democratic Engineers, denouncing the police crackdown on their protest two days ago.

Thousands of engineers were planning a demonstration in front of their syndicate on Tuesday 4pm, to protest the continuing government control over their syndicate, which has led to an actual total freeze on its activities.

The syndicate came under the siege of hundreds of Central Security Forces troops and plainclothes Gestapo agents, who banned the engineers from approaching their syndicate, and left the small number, who managed to cross the security cordon, surrounded completely.
