Police crack down on anti-Obama demonstrators

Police have cracked down on the protest planned by Kefaya this evening in Tahrir Sq, detaining a number of activists. Hundreds of plainclothes police informers had spread in Tahrir and Talaat Harb squares from the late afternoon.

Thousands of Central Security Forces troops were also present in their armored trucks.

1,000 steel mills workers demonstrate

The steel mills workers in Tebbeen, south of Cairo, staged a sit in around 4:15pm yesterday, inside their company compound, protesting attempts by the management to extend their working hours. The sit in was suspended after one hour, on receiving assurances from the management no extension would take effect.

Nubariya workers demonstrate in front of parliament

Nubariya Agricultural Engineering workers are demonstrating in front of the parliament (where the Nile Cotton Ginning Co workers were assaulted by the police) demanding their unpaid salaries.
