Cement workers stage protests south of Cairo

Around 1000 cement workers are currently staging two sit-ins south of Cairo in Helwan and Tebbin, demanding the 30% raise decreed by Mubarak last May, the “schools grant” (paid to workers in the fall to help them with the fees of their children schooling) and a compensation for the overtime work shifts they do.

No more details are available at the moment.

Victory for Kafr Elw residents

Great news!

After nine months of campaigning since last December, demonstrations, clashes with the police and Suzi’s pigs, the Kafr Elw victims will be receiving their new flats from the Maadi local council today 10am, 77 el-Maadi el-Qadima Street, in front of el-Rayyan hospital.

Thousands protest against US war in Iraq

A scene I thought was absolutely awesome in the video above was of some protesters marching with a banner, that had Moqtada el-Sadr painted on it, with a slogan “Anti-Imperialist Solidarity”.
