Tuesday: Protest trade unionist sacking

Activists are calling for a demonstration in front of the HQ of the state-controlled Egyptian Federation of Trade Unions, to protest the sacking of trade unionist Aisha Abdel Aziz, Tuesday, 11 September, 5:30pm.

The demonstration is sponsored by the Center For Socialist Studies, Afaq Socialist Center, the Workers’ Coordination Committee, the Workers’ Solidarity Committee, Workers For Change and Kefaya. The Federation is located at 90 Galaa St., Ramses.

Railways service workers stage sit-in

The movement of trains are threatened to be disrupted, following a sit-in by two thirds out of total 1400 service workers Saturday morning, protesting the termination of contract between the Railways Authorities and their company, which will result in mass lay offs. The workers are threatening to escalate their action to a strike.
