Wael Habib banned from entering Ghazl el-Mahalla
Textile Workers’ League activist Wael Habib was banned today from entering the Ghazl el-Mahalla factory compound by police and company security. As I’m writing, there is NO official paper given to Wael that details his transfer decree. “The transfer decree was verbal,” said Habib in a phone call. “The management and the security refuse to show me any documents.”
Wael led a delegation of 50 workers, including (Amal Said and Wedad el-Demerdash) to the state-backed local union building in Mahalla, demanding an investigation into the corruption of the management and revoking the transfer decrees. They were promised a meeting next week. Meanwhile, the factory organizers are gearing up for the Saturday protest.
