State Security torture MB activist in Kafr el-Sheikh

From Ikhwan Web…

Farid Shaaban, a Muslim Brotherhood member from the district of Dessouk, Kafr El Sheikh, is currently undergoing torture by the state security forces in the governorate.
Shaaban was detained last March, 24, one day before the referendum on the constitutional amendments. He was leaving work alone in Damanhur when he was attacked by 8 persons who dragged him by force to the State Security Police headquarters in Damanhur, governorate of El-Behera. He was showered there with kicks with the hands and fists and obscene. On the second day, he appeared before the prosecutor who charged him of belonging to an outlawed group and distributing leaflets that call for boycotting the referendum.
On the third day, the prosecution decided to release him. However, the state security rejected the release and sent him to the State Security Police in Kafr Al-Sheikh. Officer Khaled Dabash insulted him and threatened him with arresting his wife and beating her and shocking her with electricity.

10th of Ramadan textile strike end in VICTORY!

Posted on 18/05/200703/03/2021 By 3arabawy

The 500-strong workers’ strike at NuNu Ikhwan Textile factory was suspended Thursday 7pm with the strikers scoring a victory. The workers had been on strike in the 10th of Ramadan industrial city since last Sunday, demanding their salaries, unpaid for six months.

The strike ended after an agreement was reached with the private owner and State Security officers, whereby:
1-The December 2006 salary was immediately paid to the workers.
2-The workers will be paid an extra third of their salary every month from now on, till the rest of their five-month unpaid salaries are received.

I’m APPALLED to say I did not come across a single news report in the Egyptian press about this strike, despite its militancy and the big number of workers taking part in the industrial action, facing intimidation from State Security officers who panicked with the workers taking their action outside the boundaries of their factory. During the strike, the workers assembled in front of the factory, carrying banners, and demonstrated on the highway where cars are traveling between Cairo and Ismailia.

From Ikhwan Web:

The Egyptian State Security Police forces detained on Friday, May, 4, 2007, eight Muslim Brotherhood students from Al-Azhar University, while they were going to the mosque to perform Friday Prayer; later, another group of students were arrested from their dorm. All the detained students were taken to the Assiut State Security Service headquarters; a State Security Police officer, Ashraf Abul Makarem, tortured the students using electric shocks, and ordered them to take off their clothes and bead them on their naked bodied while showering them with a flurry of insults and treated them inhumanely.
They appeared after that before Assiut prosecution on Saturday evening, May, 5, 2007, after remaining under custody and torture of the State Security Police for thirty six hours.
