State TV workers continue protest
Via Ahram Online:
A group of employees at the State TV and Radio building tried to take control of the studios on the second floor today morning, trying also to stop news crews on their way to the studios in an escalation of their ongoing protest. Security sealed off and secured the whole floor.
The angry employees threatened to escalate their protest further if Minister of Information Osama Heikal and Major General Tarek El-Mahdy who was assigned to administer the state TV and radio do not fulfill their promises concerning bonuses and incentives.
The employees held a protest already last Thursday at the Maspero Building.
The protesters told Ahram Arabic Online that they were shocked by an announcement four days ago that the number of employees at Maspero was to be reduced by 20 per cent.
UPDATE: Here is a video from the protest:
SCAF, you’d have made Goebbels proud!
General Hassan el-Roweini, the commander of the Central Zone, is a familiar face. He showed up in Tahrir several times during the uprising, with the intent of suspending it. He accused us on the day of the Battle of Camel of “acting and that there were no martyrs killed by Mubarak’s thugs” as the army stood by watching. Each time Roweini appears on TV, prepare yourself for a doze of lies, propaganda and incitement against the revolution.
Interestingly, the general doesn’t hide the fact he’s a liar. In the interview above, he admits that during the uprising, he used to spread rumors in order to diffuse the anger of protesters in Tahrir.
This is the same general who now accuses the revolutionaries of being “foreign paid agents, thugs, traitors, saboteurs.” How can anyone believe this liar today?
