HRW video interviews with former MB detainees:

Human Rights Watch today released video interviews with eight Muslim Brotherhood members recounting earlier detentions. In the interviews, they describe torture and abuse suffered at the hands of security forces and their sentencing by military courts.
Human Rights Watch also listed the names of 223 members of the Muslim Brotherhood currently imprisoned for attempting to exercise their rights to freedom of association and expression. Human Rights Watch has collected names of more than 1,000 members of the group detained between March 2006 and March 2007.

State Security arrest, torture son of Daqahliya MB detainee

From Ikhwan Web:

While the state security forces were detaining political analyst Abdul Rahman Salem in Daqahliya in the crackdown that included a number of supporters of MB candidates on May, 22, 2007; the state security officer attacked his family and intimidated women. This made his son Muhammad Abdul Rahman Salem, a student in the Faculty of Engineering Mansoura University, defend his brothers and his mother and stop in the officer who beat and insulted him and left him with a bundle of threats. Muhammad thought it all ended at this point.
On the following day, May, 23, 2007, while returning home in the village of Dangway Shirbin, he was stunned by three security bullies who beat him and took him to the state security headquarters in the city of Shirbin. As soon as he arrived, tortures started. He was handcuffed using iron till they swelled and he was hanged and beaten, not to mention descriptoion of the beating and torture.
The tortures asked him to insult himself and saying bad names like “” I am a woman, I am son of a bitch, I …………………. ). This made torture increase by the passage of time. Torture started from 11.00Am to 12.00 PM nonstop and without giving him and food or drink and even denying him the toilet.

Prosecutor orders Moneim’s release

Posted on 30/05/200715/01/2021 By 3arabawy

MABROOOOOOOOUK!

More details soon!

UPDATE: It’s confirmed. The Public Prosecutor has ordered Moneim’s release today!

It’s a great day for all those who care about freedom in Egypt. I personally wanna thank every single person who was involved in the solidarity campaign. If it wasn’t for the support Moneim received from his activists inside and outside the country, our blogo-brother would have stayed in Mubarak’s Gulag for months, if not years… and he could have been tortured again.

Let’s not forget their are other political detainees still left behind in prison. They include students, doctors, engineers, teachers–repectable citizens of this country, who dared to raise their voices against the corrupt regime that rules us.

I know also we all want to celebrate, but let’s postpone this till Moneim is actually free. Remember, you don’t just get released from prison right away. They refer detainees to State Security HQ first, then they take them to their local police stations. Last year, our friends Alaa, Malek, and other Kefaya detainees were beaten up in the police stations prior to their release.

We’ll always stand united against Mubarak’s dictatorship.
