The Free Union scores new victory
Following two hours of protests in front of the Finance Ministry yesterday, the free union of Tax Collectors activists forced Minister Youssef Boutross Ghali into officially establishing the social fund the free trade unionists have been campaigning for, granting each real estate tax collector 110-month pay on retirement.

Qous Sugar workers expel manager from factory
The Qous Sugar Refinery workers, whose two-day sit-in was disbanded yesterday under police pressure, regrouped today and staged a 1000-strong demonstration that expelled the general manager from the factory. The manager had described the workers as “some mice and cowards” after they suspended their industrial action yesterday, but he had to flee, like the mouse he is, today in the protection of the police.
