The Arab regimes and Palestine

Posted on 23/01/200910/02/2021 By 3arabawy

I agree:

Take this article by Michael Slackman. It contains the oft-repeated cliche that Arab regimes use and misuse the Palestinian question. Let us dispel this cliche once and for all. This was true back in the 1960s and early 1970s but not anymore. It is no more true that Arab regimes use the Palestinian question to divert the attention of the population. It is now the reverse: the Arab people insist on keeping the flame of the Palestinian problem alive, and the Arab regimes all want the issue to go away because any reference to the issue exposes Arab regimes’ incompetence, defeats, weakness, and duplicities. Arab regimes now focus in their media on sleaze, sports, and Danish cartoons. In other words, anything except Palestine. Get that?

Egyptian security interrogate Gazans in hospitals

Posted on 22/01/200903/01/2021 By 3arabawy

Al-Jazeera Net is reporting that Egyptian security agents have interrogated injured Palestinians who were receiving their treatment in Egyptian hospitals, trying to extract information on Hamas, its leaders, and rocket launchers.

One Palestinian said his interrogator was “nice” until the former denied any knowledge of the resistance. That’s when the interrogator hit him where he’s wounded, saying “Don’t lie. You are in Hamas and the Qassam Brigades. If you don’t speak, we won’t allow you to continue your treatment and you’ll be thrown out like a dog.”

Oxford University students occupy building in solidarity with GAZA

Posted on 22/01/200910/02/2021 By 3arabawy

The wave of solidarity occupations in the UK continues, as LSE students score victory.

UPDATE: New Castle University students stage a solidarity occupation.

UPDATE: More universities join the protest wave.

UPDATE: Just a quick word.. I think what the British students did in terms of setting up multiple blogs, Twitter accounts, YouTube channels to disseminate information about their actions is a fantastic idea. You could be anywhere in the world and still follow what’s going on there almost minute by minute via the RSS feeds of these websites and accounts.

UPDATE: Comrade Alia sent me two videos of the Manchester University occupation:

And below are some of the pix she took:
