I am ashamed of the duplicitous actions of the US govt. There are so many horror stories of how many other countries with which they interfere, it makes all real americans sick. There is a huge “liberal” portion of americans who try to expose and shame the govt. for these past and current practices. God willing, we will get it stopped.
As a Native American, I understand genocide, racism, slavery, child stealing, discrimination in all it’s forms and I am so sorry for the current and past suffering of the people of Bahrain, Egypt, Yemen, Libya, Tunisia, ETC.,and am praying for all.
May God, and your brave citizens, give you the victory over despotism soon and forever!
In the name of mourning and fighting together.
How can such brutality reside within human beings? Is that a medieval brain that lies fossilized within his emirate skull? Shooting at people asleep in a camp?! Shooting at ambulances and threatening to shoot doctors?! Opening fire on mourners grieving those that they lost during your last assault?!
Let’s not call them animals. Animals have rarely devised vicious tools of domination and control, of death and destruction, and such Machiavellian methods to legitimize their actions. They ought to crawl back into the trashcan of history where they rightly belong. For if they don’t, they’ll surely be shoved into it, nose down, when the people on whose backs they stand, stand up.
Comrades! Your struggle against the despots in your lands, and against their Western backers, has inspired hundreds of millions of people around the world. Working people everywhere are watching your actions and learning from them.
You have faced brutality and tyranny with courage and humanity; meanwhile, your “rulers” have shown that their lust for power is only matched by their lust for blood. The massacres underway in Bahrain today – with a wink and a nudge from the Commander-in-Chief of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet, which happens to be permanently based in your ports – are an abomination to humankind.
But take heart, brothers and sisters of Bahrain, Libya, Yemen, Algeria, Djibouti! Your struggle for freedom is the struggle of all working people around the world, suffering under the same brutal economic policies that have impoverished and oppressed us all. Activists all around the world are sharing your stories with their friends, family, and acquaintances; and learning about strategy and tactics of revolutionary struggle for the 21st Century. Solidarity demonstrations in your defense are taking shape.
In the U.S. today, the courage and resilience of the Arab working classes is resonating with millions of people across the country. You might have heard of the protests in Wisconsin against the attacks on workers’ rights. And you might have heard by now that people chanted in solidarity with you, inspired by you.
As we watch the sheer brutality unleashed by these emirs and princes, and as we reflect on the fact that “our” government has financed these tyrants, many of us around the U.S. are asking ourselves: “Where’s our Tahrir Square? How can we build one?”
Amidst the cruelty and tyranny unleashed by a bankrupt global economic and political dis/order; amidst the crackdowns, the tanks, and the teargas; amidst the lies and deception now uncovered by WikiLeaks; the Arab working classes are giving the world a lesson in humanity.
And the vanguard of this unfolding revolution, our victorious Egyptian brothers and sisters, have not yet left the scene of battle.
