The leaders of the tax collectors issued a statement, denouncing the administrative crackdown on some of their colleagues, including Khaled Mubarak in the Aswan province, and government violations of the agreement reached between the strikers and the Ministry of Finance in January 2008.
The statement is signed by “The General Union of the Real Estate Tax Collectors – Under Establishment, previously known as The Higher Committee for the Real Estate Tax Collectors’ Strike.” The committee will be holding an emergency meeting this week to discuss a response if the witch-hunt does not stop.
