Around 200 peasants demonstrated yesterday in the village of Dekernes in the Nile Delta province of Daqahliya, protesting their eviction from their lands in favor of the descendants of the Badrawi feudalist family.
I received a message in the morning saying Labor Party activists Magdi Hussein, Akram el-Irani, and a third whose first name is Muhammad were detained by the police on their way to Dekernes to express solidarity with the evicted peasants.
