Banners put up by protesters in Tahrir Square on Friday, renaming Muhammad Mahmoud Street, the frontline where thousands battled the police for five days, as “Martyrs Street” and as “The Eyes of Freedom Street,” in reference to the high number of protesters who lost their eyesight thanks to 1st Lt Mahmoud el-Shinawi and his colleagues.
