Mustafa Shehata to face administrative investigation

Posted on 14/01/200703/02/2021 By 3arabawy

Police Lieutenant Mustafa Shehata who appeared in the notorious “slaps” video will be referred to an “administrative punitive board within the Giza Security Directorate,” reported Al-Masry Al-Youm. This means basically Shehata will sit in front of a bunch of fellow police officers to be judged for showering detainee Ahmad Gad with slaps (and who knows what else happened without being recorded).

The charges leveled against Shehata include employing “brute force” against a citizen in custody. Egyptian law does not recognize “torture” except if the abuse fiesta’s purpose was “extracting information.” The same goes for Police Captain Islam Nabih and Corporal Reda Fathi, who sexually abused driver Emad Kabeer in Bulaq al-Dakrour Police Station. They will face charges of “employing brute force” against a citizen, and not “torture.” Why? Because they inserted a stick up Emad’s ass for the sake of fun, and not for “extracting information.”

Al-Masry Al-Youm also reported that Shehata identified the detainee in the video clip, but accused him of being a child molester, and denied abusing him in anyway.

Bulaq torturers to be tried

The Bulaq al-Dakrour Police Station agents involved in the sexual abuse of driver Emad Kabeer have been officially referred by the prosecutor to court, reports Al-Masry Al-Youm today.

The South Cairo Prosecutor decided yesterday that Police Captain Islam Nabih Abdel Salam Awad, 29, and Police Corporal Reda Fathi el-Sayyed Abu Fatma, 28, would face charges of torture in court on 9 January.

(Correction: Their trial is not expected to start before March, Emad’s lawyer Nasser Amin told me.)

No decision yet has been announced in the case of Lieutenant Mustafa Shehata of El-Haram Police Station (seen in action below), but Al-Masry Al-Youm said his prosecution was “imminent.”

Photographer Ahmad el-Masry also managed to photograph the torturer Islam Nabih while leaving the Prosecutor’s office yesterday:

The Egyptian police brutality videos scandal is snowballing. Rights lawyer Nasser Amin told Al-Masry Al-Youm that he was close to identifying the woman who appeared in one of the police brutality videos, getting whipped by a plainclothes police official. Amin said the woman worked for the Egyptian State TV & Radio, and that the torture incident happened in one of Cairo’s police stations. The torturer, according to Amin, is a police corporal.

Al-Masry Al-Youm also provided more details about the current investigation into Emad Kabeer’s torture case, where Officer Islam Nabih and Corporal Reda Fathi are being charged with abuse. Prosecutor Bakr Ahmad Bakr requested the technical expertise of an Egyptian State TV official who looked into the videos. The official testified that the torture videos circulated by the bloggers were authentic, neither fabricated nor montaged. Up on hearing that, Officer Islam Nabih tried to assault the technical expert inside the prosecutor’s office, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported!!!

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Mustafa Shehata of El-Haram Police Station (Seen in action below) continues to perform his duties with all devotion in Giza, having escaped suspension from work due to his strong connections in General Habib el-Adly’s Interior Ministry, as Wael Abdel Fattah of Al-Fagr reported.
