London pro-Gaza protest

My friend Adib sent me the following message from London:

Here is a 5min video of Saturdays protest. The riot police were deliberately provocative and indiscriminately violent. At some point they declared the protest a riot and rows of police on foot on horses and in vans encircled and trapped at least 1000 people. Over the next couple of hours the crowd was let out one by one, each person was required to say their name, address and date of birth to the police camera before being taken aside and thoroughly searched. When it was my turn to be searched my Aljazeera building pass was in my wallet. I was asked by the officer “Why did you say you did not have a press card?”
“This is not a press card” I replied
“Doesn’t Aljazeera support terrorism” he asked.
The conversation continued but my camera had been taken by this point.

    Muslims around the world are fasting in solidarity with the people of Gaza until the offensive ends.
    It is expected that the offensive is going to continue for another two or three weeks.
    As Muslims, we are responsible and will be accountable for what is happening to Muslims (Palestine, Chechnya, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sudan, etc.) around the globe today.
    The least we can do is fast in solidarity.

El video de la manifestación del pasado sábado en Londres pone en evidencia la estrategia clara de los gobiernos de la Unión Europea de cara a la “opinión pública”: amedrentar la crítica y callar las protestas por el genocidio en curso que está “implementando” Israel en Gaza contra los palestinos. Se aprecia, más allá de la espectacularidad y de la energía de los contactos físicos, cómo los policías provocan deliberadamente y cargan contra los manifestantes (cfr. 3arabawy). El desmantelamiento del starbucks y la batalla campal al final han sido actos justos y heroicos, pues han permitido mantener el pulso. ¿Por cúanto tiempo? Esperemos in shâ’ Allah que las protestas sigan aumentando en todo el mundo, pese a la presión para neutralizarlas. El video dura 6′10”
