Senior army ranking officers rushed to the scene, trying to persuade us not to storm the State Security Police headquarters. The officers told us there were neither police nor detainees inside the building. We insisted on entering the building to make sure of that ourselves, and to try protecting the SS documents after news came out they were shredding and burning papers for days.
